The real question is: why would anyone sabotage their chance to win the biggest title in America's greatest sport without substantial financial gain attached? I love a good conspiracy theory, but it's nearly impossible to believe that Bill Callahan tried to throw the Super Bowl, punishing himself in the process, because he hated his team and wanted to see his butt-buddy Gruden win.
