Rick Ross Was Shot at More Than 20 Times in Drive-By That Was Not Staged Jan 29th 2013, 00:00 Yesterday, we all read the sketchy, non-conclusive reports that said Rick Ross was the victim of a failed drive-by shooting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It was more than a litttle hard to believe: Ross's career has been predicated on a certain amount of myth—he's a former corrections officer who took the name of the famous drug pusher Freeway Rick Ross, and he probably never moved kilos or knew the "real Noriega"—and it was conceivable to think that he might have bullshitted some of the details of an alleged drive-by. I mean, Ross is lovable and most rap fans have taken the news of his made-up past well, but who would put a faked murder plot past him?
